Summer Reading 2020
Join the Orangeburg Library’s first-ever Virtual Summer Reading Program. This year we will be using READsquared to track books, reviews, and minutes read. Within READsquared are separate programs for children, teens, and adults. (See descriptions below.)
CHILDREN’S SUMMER READING PROGRAM!
This program is designed for kids age 0 to 12 to encourage life-long reading habits. Once you’ve earned enough points you’ll receive a completion certificate you can print and share!Each minute you read counts as 1 point. Earn 1,000 points to complete the program. You can collect special badges and earn some prizes as you read! Earn bonus points by completing missions!
For every 100 minutes you read, you will automatically be entered into our weekly raffle for a free ice cream at Louie’s Ice Cream in Blauvelt.
TEEN SUMMER READING PROGRAM!
This program is designed for teens ages 12 to 18 to encourage life-long reading habits. Log reading to earn points for every day you read. Get bonus points for every book you finish and every mission you complete.
All participants will be entered in a weekly prize drawing. Once you’ve earned enough points you’ll receive a free YA book and a completion certificate you can print and share!
ADULT SUMMER READING PROGRAM!
This program is designed for adults age 18 & up to encourage life-long reading. Log a book and submit a book review to enter into our weekly raffle for a $10 Dunkin’ Donuts certificate. Every book logged and reviewed earns a badge–a virtual raffle ticket! You are automatically entered into the drawing; winners will be contacted via email.
Our grand prize, for the most books read and reviewed at the end of the program (Sunday, August 9th), is a $50 gift certificate from Bailey’s Smokehouse in Blauvelt. Read, review, eat barbecue. Good luck!!! (and thank you for your generosity, Bailey’s!!!)
